Golden State Registry

California Energy Commission Approved HERS Registry and Provider

Golden State Registry (GSR) and Homeowners

While most HVAC projects in California are completed and documented by licensed contractors and certified HERS Raters, there are certain cases where a homeowner or property representative may need to self-certify a project. If you're managing your own single-family HVAC alteration, Golden State Registry (GSR) is here to help you through the process.

GSR is a California Energy Commission (CEC)-certified HERS Provider and Data Registry, approved to support the compliance and documentation process required under Title 24, Part 6 of the California Code of Regulations.

🏠 Can I Certify My Own HVAC Upgrade?

Under specific circumstances, homeowners may apply to input their project and initiate the HERS verification process directly. This is less common but fully supported within the rules of the program. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies, we encourage you to contact us and we’ll guide you through your options.

Once verified, GSR will grant you a user account that allows you to input your project information, select a certified HERS Rater, and download the documents required to verify and certify your system.
